In June of 2010, we received a wonderful donation, a 30” Newtonian Telescope. This telescope is awesome, and we are looking forward to having this scope as part of our evening programs. In addition, we have also added a new 20" Starmaster Newtonian Telescope. We are planning to build two storage buildings behind the observatory to house these two wonderful telescopes. Fundraising has started, as we look to raise money for a permanent home behind the existing Starport. We believe the total cost will be between $35,000-$40,000. We will complete testing these telescopes this fall. We have installed our new 20" telescope in the Starport. Last August, we used the 30" scope for the Mt. Bachelor Star Party in Sunriver. The response was just great. Now we are using the 20" telescope for our evening programs and it has been just wonderful.We currently are using the 20" telescope for our public programs, until the new buildings are built. I will post some pictures of the design shortly.
