Running Is For The Birds

Running is For The Birds and Family Adventure Walk is a great way to support the work of the the Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory and have fun at the same time.

The run is a 5k and 10k USATF sanctioned and certified event starting and ending at the The Village at Sunriver.  Family Adventure Walk with interpretive nature stations beginning in The Village at Sunriver and ending at Sunriver Nature Center and Observatory.

The run is self explanatory but the walk needs more explanation. This fun and informative one-mile outing will start right after the "Running is for the Birds" 5k/10k event. Participants will be given a Nature Passport and will walk along the bike paths, stopping at several stations along the way. There, they'll have a chance to learn interesting facts about science and nature, do a short activity, ask questions, and even meet some live animals! In addition to last year's popular topics of "Whooooo is That Great Horned Owl?" and "Loads of Toads," there will be new stations featuring butterflies, plants and weeds, and bees. Everyone will be given stickers for their passports, prizes at the end of the walk, and an opportunity to win a special prize in a drawing. There will also be snacks and a scavenger hunt at the Nature Center-- so watch this website for details on how to register for this one of a kind event! We hope to see you there!

Both events will take place Saturday, August 11, 2012  The run starts at 8:00am and 10:00am for the walk. Registration forms will be posted soon.
