At the Second Tern thrift shop, we pride ourselves on carrying only the best items that come through our door. Usable items that don't meet our standards are donated to other charities. The rule of thumb is "Would I buy this?"
The Second Tern is a volunteer-run organization with all proceeds going to support the Sunriver Nature Center. In fact, over half of our general funds come from the Second Tern!
The shop is located in a 3,000 square foot building just west of the Deschutes River, on the road from Sunriver to Mt. Bachelor (17377 Spring River Road). The thrift store is open Friday and Saturday 10am to 3pm for both sales and receiving donations. The store handles a wide variety of merchandise from clothing and household items to sports equipment, automotive, electronics, furniture, and antiques.
Donations must be clean and in working condition. Large appliance donations require a $10 deposit to cover the cost of disposal in the event the item is not in perfect condition. The thrift shop reserves the right to decline donations.
For more information, call the thrift shop at 541-593-3367 during regular hours, or call the Nature Center at 541-593-4394
Second Tern Donation Receipt
For tax purposes, donors will need to complete a Second Tern Donation Receipt form before it is signed by a thrift store shop member. It is the donor’s responsibility to determine the fair market value (FMV) of the donated items. To assist you with FMV refer to IRS publication 561 “Determining the Value of Donated Property” or refer to http://www.narts.org/shopping/questions.htm. For your convenience you can download the form, complete it, and bring it in with your donation(s).
