Many people who have been vacationing in Sunriver for years are just now discovering the Nature Center.

With its birds-of-prey, botanical garden, nature trail and indoor exhibits, it's surprisingly impressive. And it fits perfectly into a weekend vacation in Sunriver. If you're out on your bikes, stop for a photo op and a fun-filled educational experience. The Sunriver Nature Center is home to five live raptors that were rescued from life-threatening injuries and houses a variety of native and non-native reptiles and amphibians. Explore Sunriver wildlife in our natural history museum, let your kids help you bring out your inner child in Exploration Ridge. Drop in to the Cosmic Crater to view our collection of meteorites, the second largest collection of it's kind in the Northwest.

Then head outside to search Lake Aspen to spot a family of otters, a busy beaver, or one of our many amphibious friends. Stroll along our great meadow observing Central Oregon wildlife and stay for our beautiful sunsets. Day or night the Nature Center is home to owls, bats, deer, many species of birds, and even porcupines! Check with one of our naturalists for information on recent wildlife sighting. Whether you are a birder, mammal lover, or budding herpetologist, you are bound to enjoy your visit. Take a walk through Sunriver’s only botanical garden.

Join us for kids’ camps, owl prowls, lectures, animal presentations, and don’t forget Toad Days! Even schedule your own private event! Nature Center biologists participate in research efforts to protect our threatened Oregon spotted frog. Be sure to come back at night, for an incredible night of star gazing at the Oregon Observatory, right next door.
